Ryan and I went for a great ride on December 5 2009, possibly the last ride of the year.(THX #5) - The weather was unbelievable! Full sun maybe 5- 8 degrees. We didnt get out till 1:30 so i think we missed the cold but we did ride through alot of ice left on the ground.
Went to blueberry flats, i needed a chill spot to break in my bike after i rebuilt the top end.
10 minute chill ride, let it cool, 20 minute ride, let it cool, then 30 - 45 minute giving more throttle each time. It was GREAT to get back on the bike, even for such a chill ride. The bike seemed pretty good. getting pretty peppy towards the end of the ride Cant wait till the next time, probably wont be till next year now - but you never know.
Merry HO HO and a Happy Monkeybutt to all

Great day to ride on September 07, 2009. We headed up Trail Head X with our bikes, me ready to give a first test run to my new CR 250 2001.

Here's a piece of the action :

I followed Ryan for a bit. We were just riding, rediscovering the area, getting used to the bike.

Still riding on the logging road (the same actually), we took a left in a little riverbed we did before, and we FLEW through the whole thing. Well, we flew...Ryan flew, and I had my first bail of the day at the end of the clip.

Getting back on my bike, I carried on in that crazy little trail, untill I met with Ryan.

...And then I bailed. Probably my best bail since we started riding. Notice the makeshift wrapping around my arm. Ducktape and kleenex...even if it was quite handy on the spot, it wasn't fun ripping that off at the clinic, but it held that pretty blatant gap on my arm until we finished riding back to the truck.

Aside from the visit at the clinic due to that pretty epic crash that ripped my brake lever right off the bike, broke my rear fairing, rashed both my elbows and left me with that deep opening in my arm, it was a pretty cool day. I'll know if stitches are required soon (update : nop, no stitches required...cuz they don't stitch roadrash).

Well, overall still a nice day.

And it's oooooon! New toy to replace the oll Kawi 1983 that got destroyed by making sweet sweet love to it.

We're now talking about a Honda Cr 250 with specs as follow :
  • Mothereffin liquid cooled 249 cc single-cylinder two-stroke with powerband
  • 13.1 inches ground clearance
  • 2 gallons fuel capacity (d'oh!)
  • Dry weight 213 pounds
So we'll see how that go, but I can predict many adventures and bruises.

Hello all followers, here's a quick update about our lack of updates.

My all mighty green bastard died about a month ago, and #21 had lots of issue with his, which finally died too.
Only James and Ry are still up and running, Ry having some work to do on his, James having the most reliable bike of all of us (maybe with a bit of ducktape on it)

We'll keep posting stupid vids and pics as soon as
1- Ryan will have fixed his bike
2- #21 will have bought a new one or
2.5 - I will buy a new one.

Keep following, we're still being idiots and will soon be roaming the wopwops again.

Having problems carrying a fishing rod while dirtbiking ? No problem, carry a reel and ducktape.

Interesting documentary : Union business behind getting high

Lets hope this nutcracker dude on the sign at trailhead X isnt a premonition to the day?? ?

A very wet day out on the bikes - not too much rain but a lotta big puddles and i think we hit every creek crossing within 5 km at least once - no matter how deep they might look H-HA

the fire at Steemsok lake was the perfect topper to the day -a sign of many camping days to come!! !

What a ride last weekend -
A long ride using all the daylight always leaves us a little hazy.. .
 - We rode some crazy creek beds - tried some jumping - climbed some rocks around the power lines - a little bit of everthing, we explored the area from trailhaed x to just about tugwell lake.

found some unmarked, unnamed lakes so we took liberty - twosun lake - and glimpse lake

we always leave our mark and come out with more garbage than we go in with;)

I CANT WAIT TILL THE NEXT  RIDE -

Me and 21 Hit Butler Main on Saturday in hopes of a lunch at Bear Creek, but we got stopped by some SICK snow about 10kms up. Two feet deep on the road and it didn't appear to only be a patch... We ran in to a couple trappers who confirmed what 21 had heard - ATV'ers were able to ride over the gates on the snow further on up the road!
Benny Hill (aka 21) showing a high level of hilarity on our way to Bear Creek

We looped back to Bone Yard in hopes of avoiding the snow and ended up chilling in the sun along the Sooke River.

9km up Bone Yard on the Sooke River

It had no snow.

We came across a wigwam on the Sooke River too.

We also came across a nice pile of garbage.
I wonder why they hate us riding and chilling up here?

All in all a really good day out on the bikes! We need to find a solution for the gate there because it's some sweet sunny day riding. There are a couple beautiful lakes and some crazy hidden potholes... nothing else like it on the lower island. We did get a stern finger shaking from some old dude in a truck - nod and ride on. It's fine draggin the TY under the gate, but I totally won't do that to the battle cat! :)

Epic Falls, Sooke BC

Had a great time up near Boyd's pit the Wednesday afternoon. We got in near the bridge just past Anderson Lake road. They dug it all out trying to keep us out but someone already made another path! Ripped around in Boyd's for a bit and then headed up the road. Came to a 3 ways split in the road, took the right hand road and right at the end we found a damn which we named Epic Falls. Have a look at the pic. Sweet place to take a nap and blast one back!

Let's get out there soon boys!

This old Honda bike has got history - the GREATEST bike in the world for reliably breaking down 10-15 km out on a ride ensuring a good workout walking back (or towed - thx Ryan)
This bike was on the first half of the first two LOOM rides. HAHAHA
priceless really - $21000000 OBO

Cobble hill mayhem

Well, we had a pretty sweet ride at Shaunigan (Cobble Hill or whatever) last Sunday. Here's a bit of random documentation.

Me getting airborne. I'm getting not too bad at it.

Taking a break by the weird fireplace in the middle of nowhere.

Pwning the top

LoOM FTW

Mysterious Trailhead X

Me and K went out on Sunday hoping to find a way in to Butler Main for some fast riding. Ended up tailing a truck with a couple bikes out of Sooke and found a SWEET new riding spot that isn't too far out. I'd post pics but the powerful and crafty Trailhead X was able to thwart me by way of a dead battery in my phone.

I won't bother posting a map link or mentioning the road name either. I got the feeling that it was a secret too powerful to be shared outside of the locals that ride there (and a sparce collective of dastardly LoOmers).
We rode up a pretty steep river until we reached snow. I had my first nice bail. GOOD TIMES!
My entire body is not cool now. Not cool. Can't wait until next weekend!

Looming in so-cal?

You should have been rid'n not film,n. Get that KTM on the road .Have maybe some pic's here. Some 7 people ticketed here in th Hood:) 4 ridn near th firing range ,was going to go tomorrow but change of plans. Will try and send some more soon if I'm able to LoOM.

ThE LoOMeR's pAraDoX

So what should we do?

1 - Continue riding in the Wopwops of DeepSooke, giggling like little girls playing with a chainsaw for the first time. (yea... I know.)

2 - Attend familial "obligations" and spend quality time with the family, eventually falling asleep, after a couple o' beers while watching some random movie with the bitter sweetness of a task about 65% completed but the gratitude of the family cell. (pff!)

3 - Make a montage of all of us randomly dancing in various scenery and post it at this very site. We're LoOMing. It could also be Extreme Ironing or some other things that kids don't do these days.

Please comment.

I just bought a sweet-assed bike woot! It's a 1995 KTM 300EXC. It included all the gear including new boots, a pretty nice helmet. Scary fast, can't wait to take it out!

Ductape & Sparkplugs!

What a blast! Blueberry flats has to be one of the funniest places to ride to date! Tons of diverse riding and knarley straight stretches. Props to the klan for helping each other out and keeping the bikes running all day! Thanks for a great time!
